Beckford double destroys Robins

Jermaine Beckford grabbed a clinical double as 10-man Leeds United defeated Swindon Town 3-1 in an ill-tempered County Ground clash.

Beckford gave the visitors the lead after 21 minutes with his ninth goal of the season.

And the 24-year-old talisman was on hand to slide home United's third goal with seven minutes remaining.

Simon Cox equalised for Swindon on the stroke of half-time but Neil Kilkenny restored United's advantage shortly after the restart and Beckford applied the coup de grace late on.

The match saw no fewer than seven bookings, and the sending-off of defender Alan Sheehan for a foul on Jon-Paul McGovern after just eight minutes.

Midfielder Ollie Hotchkiss has joined Garforth Town on a months loan. He will play in Saturdays FA Cup Second Round Preliminary against Ossett Albion at Wheatley Park.

Our game against Swindon Town has now sold out for Leeds United supporters.

Over 3,000 United fans will head to the County Ground ensuring our biggest away following so far this year.

Telfer joins Leeds United
Paul Telfer has completed a free transfer to Leeds United.
The former Coventry City and Celtic defender has linked up with Leeds on a non-contract basis after a brief trial with the club earlier in the summer.

Telfer has been included in Gary McAllister's squad for tomorrow's clash at Scunthorpe United.
Kandol joins Millwall on loan
Millwall were today set to complete the signing of Leeds United striker Tresor Kandol on a six-month loan.
United struck an agreement with their League One rivals late last night following an approach by Millwall boss Kenny Jackett, and Kandol is expected to take up the offer ahead of the start of the 2008-09 season on Saturday.
